Mike Conner appointed City Attorney for Jesup

SAVANNAH, GA –Mike Conner, managing partner of The Conner Law Group, was appointed to be Jesup’s City Attorney by a majority vote of city council on Thursday.
Conner, 41, is a Jesup native who serves clients throughout South Georgia from offices in Jesup and Savannah. He was voted to replace former City Attorney Joseph Leaphart, who served the city for more than a decade, and will assume City Attorney responsibilities immediately.
"Jesup is my home, and one of my top priorities has always been to serve the community that has meant so much to me and my family and taught me so much during my life. I am honored and humbled by the faith that members of the city council and the mayor have placed in me, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent my hometown and the place where I grew up. I am proud to be able to say that I have more than two centuries of family history in this community. My parents live here and 101-year-old grandmother are among the many, many relatives who live here in Jesup, and it is truly a privilege to have been able to open an office here to serve the people in my home. I am looking forward to working with the city council and city manager in constructive and innovative ways to serve the public, and I understand that the challenge before me will be to uphold the tradition of exemplary representation that Jesup has received from its prior attorneys. During his legal career, Conner has established himself as one of Georgia’s elite attorneys, and he is a former partner in one of Georgia’s oldest and most respected law firms, Bouhan Williams Levy in Savannah. After becoming a partner in 2003, one of Conner’s first priorities was to locate a satellite office in Jesup to begin offering his services to his hometown.
In 2010, Conner resigned from Bouhan Williams Levy to found The Conner Law Group and opened offices in Savannah and Jesup. In addition to representing a diverse array of individuals in a wide variety of legal matters, Conner also provides corporate counsel to such esteemed organizations as Prime South Bank in Jesup and the Georgia Partnership for Telehealth in Waycross.
Conner has been a part of several landmark cases in the state, including settling one of the largest condemnation suits in Georgia history in 2006, and his accomplishments have earned regional and national peer recognition.
