PRESS RELEASE - February 23, 2009
Partner at Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLP invited to lead efforts of prestigious policy making organization tied to insurance industry and corporate legal departments
SAVANNAH – David Michael Conner, a partner at the Savannah law firm of Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLP, has been appointed Lead Chair for the Council on Litigation Management (CLM), a national organization dedicated to standardizing litigation practices and promoting integrity in claims handling, asset protection and legal defense pertaining to the insurance industry and corporate legal departments.
Conner, 39, practices primarily in Savannah and southeast Georgia and has earned a reputation as a tenacious litigator, including being involved in several landmark legal cases in Georgia during his 15-year career. He was named a Georgia state chair for the CLM in 2008, and he is also a fellow in the CLM and the Litigation Counsel of America. He was also selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of the Best Lawyers in America in the area of personal injury litigation.
The CLM is a consortium of major insurance companies and corporations with a shared purpose of promoting national standards and ethical practices in litigation. The organization’s advisory board includes executives from major insurance companies like Zurich North America, AIG, The Hartford and Liberty Mutual Group, and membership for attorneys is by invitation only.
As Lead Chair, Conner’s responsibilities will include coordinating the other state chairs appointed by the CLM as well as identifying and recruiting additional companies within the state as new members. Conner and the other CLM state chairs and member attorneys will play critical roles in setting statewide litigation standards and policies, and Conner will serve as Lead Chair in perpetuity at the discretion of the state board of directors.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by an organization as prestigious as the Council on Litigation Management,” said Conner, who has also been named a Georgia Rising Star by Super Lawyers for three consecutive years. “The CLM has a tremendous influence on the insurance industry and corporate law departments, and the standards that we set together can prevent or eliminate instances of fraudulent claims being processed, frivolous litigation tying up our courts and attorneys profiting unjustly from innocent victims through unethical billing practices. I am proud to be a part of the leadership for this organization in Georgia, and I will work diligently to ably represent the CLM and its constituent members.”
